Keep on Movin'
We rode the new train system here, and both kids LOVED it! There are some funny traits that arise from this system. In usual Israeli fashion, people show no gentility or hierarchy to seniors or strollers, so you have to fight your way in and out of the train...it's so bad, that they actually have lines and arrows drawn at the station stops showing where to stand to allow people off before you board! This is something I got used to quickly. The flip side is that the tickets are good for unlimited stops for 1.5 hours, so when people get off knowing they won't use the rest of their timeframe, they simply hand off the tickets to people at the ticket booth. Our first time buying, two different people handed us their tickets. SO NICE! Cela was so proud to stand and hold onto the rails like the "grownups".
Another interesting difference here is the affection people show our kids. No bias or anything, but our kids are pretty darn cute and have always gotten sweet comments wherever we go. However, here, people think nothing of reaching out and touching their faces, hugging them, and today someone even reached over and gave Sammy a kiss!! I can't quite explain why i'm okay with this, but i am.
