We Made It!

We had an exhausting, but MUCH better than expected flight to Tel Aviv. Sam slept for 9 hours and Cela was very excited that Aba surprised her with an iPad for entertainment!  At my most tired and strained from holding Sam for so long, I only had to look back at the woman traveling with 2 year old twins that screamed for 12 hours to be VERY happy with my current situation!

We experienced a lot in those first couple of hours:
1) I somehow managed to badly crack my toenail while opening the stroller when we landed so I got to see the airport first aid kiosk. Even the medic was grossed out by the scene!
2) As soon as we walked out of the airport to get our cab, security yelled at us in Hebrew to get back into the building because of a security threat. Our cab driver was instructed to get in his car and go.  It turns out it was a drill, but it reminded us to remain calm and never ask questions of those dudes!
3) Our cab driver got into an argument with the toll person as we left the airport. Even Sam knew something was up and started crying about all the yelling!!

Our apartment is beautiful and in a perfect location.  The kids were SO excited to see the washing machine working, as ours is in our basement, which is not kid-friendly, so they've never seen the suds and clothes going round and round.  Built-in free entertainment for everyone!

We have a HUGE and great playground and open green space directly behind the apartment.  The kids had a great time there today and it will be a perfect spot for Ronnie to bring them before dinner when I start working.

We had our first Israeli breakfast this morning with eggs, breads, salad, cheeses, and fig jam. YUM!  Cela said it was so good it made her want to dance, and then proceeded to do a little jig right there on the sidewalk.

We also did our first grocery run, which is quite an experience.  To say that the cashiers have no concern about time or service is quite an understatement.  The best part of the whole thing is that we can have our groceries delivered for $5...best idea ever...why don't we have this in the states?

I've started working and my technology seems to be in good shape. I imagine i'll be far more exhausted tonight, so i'm hoping I can make it at the office/aka kitchen table until midnight. The holiday couldn't have come at a better time...most of my clients are closed Thursday and Friday, so i'll have a long weekend too!

Speaking of technology, we swore that we would put away the ipad once we got here, but Cela looks so cute (and grown-up) in the headphones, I couldn't resist.
