- a garbage disposal
- the sprayground at the Beltline park
- a synagogue with "regulars" - we love that we go to a synagogue here where people come from literally around the world and fill the seats each week with a new "flavor" of crowd. But we miss our relatively smaller Shabbat mornings filled with the same lovely faces who know us and our kids
- Cela wearing matching clothes - our newly independent girl does everything herself and is VERY good at most of it. however, we brought a limited number of outfits here, and she has just a couple of favorites that she insists on wearing and none of them go together...of course i'm absolutely fine with that #NOT
- nail salons on every corner
- knowing where i'm going - we are so comfortable here, but each day is a new adventure, a new bus line, a new navigation
- shoe choices - i broke my all time favorite flip flops yesterday (I bought them to go with a dress I wore the first time Ronnie introduced me to Shai and Judy 5 years ago...they lived a long prosperous life!) and because I crushed my toe on our first 5 minutes in Israel, i can't wear closed-toe shoes, so I've been wearing the same sandals every day with every outfit no matter what
- tofu
- a huge variety of toys to occupy the kids while we're home
- sleeping in my room with Ronnie without Sam 7" from our bed
What I don't miss:
- getting in my car every time i want to go somewhere
- working during the day
- my cell phone
- going to the gym for a workout - instead of walking through the streets of our history all day long with my family!
- Atlanta humidity (and rain from what I hear!!!)
- the hubbub of secular life outside while we observe Shabbat
- going to a particular grocery just to get kosher meat and bamba
- straightening my hair
- having more than 800 square feet to clean
- dealing with our own household fiascos - MAJOR water flooding in the bathroom is an inconvenience, but it's our landlord's issue to deal with...freedom!
